Tied with The Fly Smith 74D Olive Thread for a tight, natural profile and anchored by a 3.3mm tungsten bead from Saluda Beads, this fly gets down quickly into the strike zone, where it needs to be.

What sets the Copperback Caddis apart is the incorporation of flat copper wire, a deliberate design choice that does more than add weight or durability. The broad, reflective surface of the flat copper wire imitates the hardened dorsal plates of a natural caddis larva. Its slightly rigid, flattened profile adds a lifelike texture and subtle contrast that triggers instinctual responses from feeding trout. In pressured or stained waters, that subtle shimmer can be the difference between a refusal and a hook-up.
